Play it light
One-Up Twenty-One is a pastime, not a plan. Here is how we think about keeping it that way, and what to do if it stops feeling like fun.
The basics
The Power of Running is a social gaming site for adults aged 18 and over. Every hand is played with free virtual coins that have no monetary value, cannot be purchased and cannot be exchanged for money, goods or prizes. There is no real-money wagering anywhere on this site. We provide it for entertainment purposes only.
Because the coins are free and reset on reload, winning or losing here costs you nothing. Results at a free table also say nothing about how you would do with real stakes, so please do not treat practice here as preparation for gambling elsewhere.
Taking a break
- Decide how long you want to play before you start, and set a timer on your phone or computer if that helps.
- Stand up between sessions. A walk, a glass of water or a conversation is a good reset.
- Avoid playing when you are tired, upset or trying to take your mind off something difficult.
- Keep the table in its place: after work, chores, sleep and the people around you, not before them.
- If you notice you are chasing a high score long after it stopped being enjoyable, that is a perfectly good moment to close the tab.
Signs to step back
Even games without money can take up more room than intended. It may be time for a longer pause if you find yourself playing for much longer than planned, feeling irritable when you cannot play, hiding how much time you spend on games, or thinking about moving on to real-money gambling to recreate the excitement.
Finding support
If gaming or gambling is affecting your life or the life of someone close to you, talking to someone helps. A family doctor or local health service can point you in the right direction, and many regions have free, confidential helplines and counselling services for gambling-related harm. Searching for gambling support services in your own area is a good first step, and if you are ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.
Young people
This site is not intended for anyone under 18. If you share a device with children, consider using your operating system’s or browser’s parental controls to limit access to sites like this one. We do not knowingly collect information from minors, and in fact we do not ask anyone for personal information to play.
